Sorry to see the negative reviews, but that was not my experience, Jeff was courteous, helpful and got me out of a tight spot when my starter failed on my 2005 Honda Element on a trip from San Diego to S.F. We had spent the night on the beach at Oceano Dunes and the car had to be towed to the shop. They diagnosed the problem and took care of it in the time they said they would and Jeff gave me and my family a ride to a local hotel to stay the night. Great work guys, thanks a lot.

Jeff, the owner of Continental Motor Works, did a pre-purchase inspection of a used Volvo wagon we were looking at and the detailed report he provided saved us nearly $2600 in repairs that the dealer had to do before we completed the transaction. Needless to say, they've been our mechanics ever since! Always a pleasant experience... and the popcorn machine is a BIG hit with our kids!

These guys do good work and take care of there customers. Sometimes they are a tad more expenseive. One time my car was having minor issues. He found the problem free of charge because I was a loyal customer. Jeff

Warning, do not go here! Total rip off artists, Jeff with his small town charm, and Prozac smile ripped us off big time. We had just moved to town from back east, one of our cars wasn't running right, when it came off the transport truck. Continental motorworks charged us over $2000. For what was in reality a major tuneup, fluid changes, no parts! We had the same work done on our other car at another repair shop for $600. Like the other reviews, the car still didn't run right, and we ended up having to buy a new car.

I took my car to Continental MotorWorks Auto Repair because of the large number of positive reviews they have received on Google, so I was extremely disappointed when their level of service definitely did not live up to their previous reputation. I brought my car in after it overheated, and they charged me a diagnostic fee of $89.10 even though they were not able to diagnose or repair the problem. I was under the impression that the diagnostic fee I was charged would at least be taken out of any further work done on the car; however, Continental MotorWorks Auto Repair then refused to work on the car since we purchased the parts, and they're now claiming that the diagnostic fee wouldn't have come out of the repair costs anyway(!?) I have never taken my car to a company that didn't apply a diagnostic fee to any work that needed to be done. Since this is a standard industry practice, I would have expected them to be clear if this was not their policy, since this would constitute a material fact that would have resulted in my deciding to take my car elsewhere had I known. I also asked for a refund of the diagnostic gee, which they declined. What a disappointment - I won't be taking my car there again.

These guys play the "bait-and-switch" game VERY well. Had a special that included oil change and tire rotation- tried to convince us we needed our transmission fluid changed, charged us $100 just to look at why the heater wasn't working right and wanted to charge close to $300 to fix it. Went somewhere else and was only charged $150. Do your self a favor and go to SLO motive or the Tire Store.
